When asking to adopt a CPAN module please tell me your PAUSE id

CPANadoption Mon 28 October 2024

If you're emailing the PAUSE admin alias (modules@perl.org), saying that you want to adopt a module / distribution, please Please PLEASE include your PAUSE id in your email.

The main Perl hat I wear these days is PAUSE admin. The most common requests I deal with are people asking for a PAUSE account and requests related to indexing permissions, such as someone asking to adopt a module.

I've written a number of posts over the years about adopting modules, including describing the general process of adopting a CPAN module, and another with a template CPAN adoption request.

This post is just to ask you to include your PAUSE id when making such a request. It surprises me how many people forget to include their id, even though it's the main piece of information I need in order to make the change.

If you don't have a PAUSE account, then the first thing you need to do is request a PAUSE account.
